Specialized flooring for animal environments

Animals deserve better than concrete.

Resilient, seamless flooring engineered to create safer, more comfortable environments for elephants, rhinos, giraffes, and other animals under demanding conditions.

Zoos, exotic animal facilities, veterinary environments, and animal transport applications across North America.

The problem

Concrete wasn't designed for animals.

Large animals spend long stretches of the day standing, walking, and resting indoors. Unyielding slabs transmit impact and cold, stress feet and hoof pads, and can contribute to pressure-related discomfort. Traditional mats and standard coatings introduce problems of their own.

Impact

Hard slabs return force straight back into joints and limbs of animals that stand, shift, and rest for hours at a time.

Traction

Wet holding areas and washdown routines demand footing that stays dependable for heavy, unhurried animals.

Sanitation

Rolled and interlocking mats leave open seams where urine and washdown water collect, leading to odor, ammonia, and deterioration underneath.

TBR Flooring was developed around these conditions, not adapted to them.

Lay A Weigh®

Built differently from the ground up.

Lay A Weigh® is a layered resilient flooring system bonded directly to the concrete substrate. Its cushioned rubber core absorbs impact while the seamless wear surface provides traction, moisture protection, and a cleanable finish.

Seamless Bond

Hygienic Seal

Impact Resistant

Impact absorption

The resilient core absorbs dynamic impact instead of reflecting it back.

Foot and hoof protection

A cushioned surface reduces prolonged contact with hard concrete.

Reliable traction

A finished surface built for wet animal-care conditions.

Seamless construction

One continuous surface rather than mats with open joints.

Hygienic surface

Fluids have no seams to collect beneath.

Thermal comfort

Helps insulate animals from cold slabs.

Applications

Designed around the animals who use it.

Megafauna

Megafauna

Elephants, rhinos, hippos, giraffes, camels

Hoofstock

Hoofstock

Zebras, okapi, tapirs, wild cattle, other ungulates

Specialty Environments

Specialty environments

Veterinary recovery areas, winter holding barns, penguin environments, high-traffic chutes, specialty transport

Real installations

Proven in demanding animal environments.

Our flooring legacy includes veterinary clinics, horse and livestock trailers, and a first Texas installation dating back to 2002.

zoos serviced nationwide

Installation

Built around the realities of animal care.

Our crews work inside active facilities. That means containment, daily cleaning — often more than once a day — and a deliberate effort to limit disruption to animals and care teams.

01

Prepare

Evaluate and prepare the existing concrete substrate for proper bonding.

02

Install

Bond the resilient system directly to the slab with the appropriate primers, adhesives, and rubber core materials.

03

Finish

Apply the traction layer and protective wear surface.

04

Clean

Keep the work area clean throughout, often multiple times a day, and remove hazards before handing the space back.

Long-term value

A flooring system designed to keep working.

The resilient core is designed to remain in service for many years, while the protective wear surface can be periodically renewed to protect the system underneath. Renewing the wear layer extends the useful life of the complete floor rather than replacing it.

Project inquiry

Tell us about your project.

Every animal environment is different. Give us a few details about your facility and we'll help determine whether TBR Flooring is a good fit.

Projects are evaluated individually based on species, square footage, and existing concrete conditions. Serving facilities across North America.
